Célio de Carvalho was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. He moved to Norway in 1983 after studying classical percussion at the Instituto Villa-Lobos.

Célio has performed with numerous artists and groups around the world, including in Norway, Brazil, the USA, Finland, Russia, Poland, Iceland, and Germany. He has also contributed to over 120 album recordings. Since 1986, Célio has worked with Rikskonsertene and The Cultural Schoolbag (Den kulturelle skolesekken), performing more than 5,000 concerts for various audiences—from kindergartens to high schools.

Célio gives solo concerts for all age groups. One of his passion projects is aimed at children aged 0–3 years—“My best audience,” as he likes to say!

He leads his own band, Celebration, featuring some of Norway’s top musicians. He also produces for well-known groups, bands, and solo artists. In addition, he works with music therapy, sound frequencies, and healing. His project Waves combines free-form dance with music tuned to 432 Hz—a frequency believed to resonate with the Earth and the human heart.
